It was a Saturday back then, exactly 5 years ago. I got a packed birthday at school. 7am - 7pm classes, plus fire emergency simulation. Everybody was then aware that it's my birthday, because one of my good friend shouted it in our first class. So everybody greeted, and in every class they sang the infamous birthday song. It was cool that people greets you, even your friends' friends. So we had lunch, I don't know if I treated them and I can't remember. I don't usually celebrate my birthday very often. Sometimes it comes with a treat to my friends over lunch or dinner, and it happens very rare. I always get the money, buy things I want, I go to places far from where I usually go alone and wished to bump to someone that I know and give him/her a lucky treat.
It's always a Hunt for the Birthday Celebrant on July 23.
Back to school, I received impromptu gifts and balloons. I got Hale's first album from my good friend Dina. Not to mention an excuse to a quiz in Filipino as a gift from the professor. I wished it was a major subject! But classes went on and on. Until the fire emergency simulation. So everybody was asked to go out of the premises. But, but, but! There are school personnels who are already outside the campus and led us to the vacant lot beside the school, in which we are guarded and not allowed to go somewhere else. We are slightly pissed as some students are sneaking out of them and we are right in front of them. But we had our way, we slowly went to backside of the crowd and successfully snuck out to Bluewave.
And yes, a coffee shop in Bluewave was a rendezvous with her. Einjhel, Panget, Cyril, or whatever, I loved her for some quite time, long time. And yes! I really loved her the most of the girls I had met. She knows and the feeling was mutual. She greeted me, we talked and then she handed me her gift. Wow! Another CD of Hale and a stuffed animal. I wished I never told her that I got one earlier that day because that's where jealousy started. But, we didn't mind it anyway. Then, a classmate texted and said that the next class is about to start. So I asked her if it's okay to go back to class at that moment. She said no, she wanted me to cut. And as an obedient boy, I didn't. I was so obedient on my studies that perfect attendance is a must. Or else it would be my first. And now, I regret that one. Or not! Needless for her to say, she had a plan.
So the class pushed through, and I set a date with my bed after I had a packed day. All the while, she was finding her way to our house, she asked my friends for directions and poof! She got here. My mom woke me up, and said I have a guest. Very unexpected guest. She went to our house. I'm close to freaking out. Then she asked for the gifts she gave me. She added a note in the lyrical book of the album and she gave another stuffed animal, in which she actually bought that hugging each other and goes with a punchline. It's like, "I won't let you to be alone for a long time,' something that goes by that.
Everything was sweet for me. Everything about her was sweet for me. Everything happened that day was sweet for me. And "I love you, Panget!" is still sweet for me.
